Joan LaBadie, Educator and Parent

Joan is a gifted elementary teacher and reading specialist who inspires her students to read, write and create.  We look forward to her second-graders participating in the Let's Write and Let's Imagine Activities.  Her two sons are college students in Florida.  Her husband, Ray, is a beekeeper, among other things.  Molly Brave may have a children's bee book in our future!

Laura Deveny, Educator and Parent

Kids in Leopard Pajamas

Laura was Mary Alice Deveny's first literary audience, listening hour upon hour to her sister reading and rereading fairy tales from Volume One of Collier & Son's The Junior Classics.  Perhaps our favorite, because it always made us laugh out loud, was "The Princess Whom Nobody Could Silence," a tale from Norway by P.C. Asbjörnsen.  Laura became a teacher in West Virginia, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, teaching English and Drama.  Laura is the girl in the leopard pajamas.
